Liverpool’s burgeoning waterfront could have a new addition with the news of planning application for a large residential and commercial space.
Romal Capital have unveiled plans for 646 apartments at Central Dock, Liverpool Waters, spread over two white stone-clad 14-story blocks and four red brick buildings coming in at 10 storeys. There is also 2,500ft of commercial or retail space at ground level.
If building begins soon, Romal say they intend to have the development completed by 2021.
Famous for its cultural heritage, two world-famous football clubs and important industrial history, Liverpool has built upon its success as the European City of Culture in 2008. Regeneration in the city is ongoing as its population continues to expand, and it is now classed as one of the most appealing places in the country to invest in the buy-to-let sector.
Gregory Malouf, chief executive at Romal said, “Enabling unused dock space to be developed will unlock the key to creating a northern waterfront community which connects to the success of the Liverpool’s existing multi-use waterfront by enhancing accessibility, connectivity and public space in the city centre.”
It’s an exciting time in the area as Liverpool Waters helps to transform the docklands along the Mersey to the north of the city centre. It’s a £5bn scheme that will bring the historic area back to life with five unique neighbourhoods – Princes Dock, Central Docks, Clarence Docks, Northern Docks and King Edward Triangle.

Park Central is the second phase of the Central Docks residential developments consisting of 129 one- and two-bed apartments. Located directly opposite a new 12-acre park and on a new £9 million boulevard, Park Central is effectively an island site that will have uninterrupted views of either the parkland or the canal riverway towards the city centre.
There’s a huge range of opportunity for investors with over 9,000 residential apartments set to be completed at Liverpool Waters. There will be numerous high-class leisure facilities as well as restaurants, bars and cafes, plus a cultural hub and shops.
It also lies adjacent to where a new ocean liner and Isle of Man ferry terminal have had planning applications put in for, while Everton FC recently put forward their plans for a new stadium at the nearby Bramley-Moore Dock.
